q: WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO MY APPOINTMENT?

We suggest arrival at the exact time of scheduled appointment. Due to COVID-19 policies and procedures, we cannot have anyone in the waiting area.

 
q: CAN I COME IN FOR A CONSULTATION?

Yes! Our client’s needs are our main priority. We love to work with our clients and their individual hair needs. Make sure to schedule an appointment for a free consultation as we cannot have any walk-ins during this time.

 
q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY APPOINTMENT?

We recommend all clients scheduling their appointments at the beginning of the week if they want an appointment on a weekday. 1 week in advance for Friday or Saturday. We highly recommend pre-booking appointments before leaving the salon if you see a specific service provider. Walk-ins are permitted if time is available.

 
q: WILL YOU REMIND ME OF MY APPOINTMENT?

Yes. Your appointment will be confirmed 24 hours in advance via phone call and email, if you have provided one.

 
q: WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?

Although we know unforeseen circumstances may arise, we ask to let us know at least 24 hours in advance that you won’t be able to make it. This way we can open the slot for another customer on a waiting list. Appointments that are missed without notification will be charged $25 cancellation fee. Please note that we do require to reserve all visits containing four or more services with a credit card.

CANCELLATION POLICY (DUE HIGH SEASON)

Hair Bar NYC will not allow any cancellation via text or email due High Season. Please contact your location via PHONE prior 24 hours of your appointment during business hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST. No exceptions.

Hair Bar NYC understands that sometimes schedules change and therefore requests at least 24 hours notice when canceling or rescheduling your appointment. A credit card is required to hold your appointment. Appointments canceled within 24 hours or for which clients are a “No-Show” for will incur a charge of $25 Cancellation Fee.

Please note that if you are over 15 minutes late for your appointment we may have to reschedule your service if it cannot be completed in the remaining time frame. All attempts to reschedule in a timely manner will be made. If we do not hear from you 15 or more minutes into your scheduled appointment time it is considered a “No-Show” and your card will be charged for $25 Cancellation Fee. No exceptions.

Hair Bar NYC we will do everything we can to accommodate appointment changes and cancellations as required. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience to modify or cancel your appointment.

 
q: WHAT IF I AM LATE?

If you find yourself running late for an appointment, please call our Salon you have an appointment with and let us know so that they can inform your Stylist to see if it would affect any other clients scheduled that day. We will always do our best to accommodate you when it is possible.

A professional stylist who maintains your look, who stays up to date with the latest techniques, deserves your appreciation. Tipping for service at a salon is typically handled as you would tip for service at a restaurant. Generally, we suggest 15-20% of the total price and depending upon how the quality of service that you feel you received. Also please don’t forget to tip the shampooist.

q: IS THE DIAMOND BOTOX HAIR TREATMENT ALSO A KERATIN?

Our Hair Botox treatment is not a keratin treatment but rather a hair repair therapy restoring the youth and vitality to damaged hair. Infusing the hair with essential vitamins and nutrients while being customized to repair different types of common damage, including hair thinning, loss of tensile strength, dryness and dullness caused by coloring, as well as extreme damage caused by chemical processing or constant heat styling. The same way Botox rejuvenates the face, our Diamond Botox will rejuvenate the hair.

 
q: WHICH STYLIST IS THE BEST, OR IS RIGHT FOR ME?

q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 24K KARAT KERATIN AND THE SILK TOUCH KERATIN?

The 24K Keratin is an oil-based cream formulated keratin treatment that eliminates frizz while hydrating and repairing the hair, creating shine, and smoothing the hair. The Silk Touch Keratin is formaldehyde free and is based on botanical and organic plant extracts, which reduces the volume of curly and frizzy hair, while smoothing the hair as well.

 
q: HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT KERATIN FOR ME?

Choosing the right keratin for the client depends on hair type as well as expected results. All our keratin treatments are personally designed to meet the requests of all hair types, from virgin and fine hair to relaxed and highlighted hair. We have different types depending on the level of strength that someone may desire. To find the best option schedule a consultation to have a professional give their recommendation and help embrace the client’s natural hair at its best. We do not carry a one size fits all; each hair type is unique.

 
q: HOW SOON MAY I WASH MY HAIR AFTER A KERATIN TREATMENT?

All our keratins seal after 24 hours though a professional stylist will personally advise after care instructions between 24 to 96 hours depending on hair’s structure, density, and damage. For all Silk Touch Keratins, you must wash out immediately or within 24 hours maximum with proper maintenance. As for our other Keratin treatments such as 24K Keratin, Gel Keratin, and Express Keratins, your stylist will recommend a certain number of hours depending on client’s type of hair without exceeding 96 hours (4 days) maximum.

 
q: IS IT SAFE TO HAVE KERATIN TREATMENTS DONE FREQUENTLY?

Our keratin is a hair protein that does not break the structure of the hair therefore it is safe to have multiple keratin treatments done consistently with a professional hair plan created together by desired stylist and client.

 
q: WHEN IS IT APPROPRIATE TO GET MY NEXT KERATIN SERVICE?

To maintain hair beautiful and manageable throughout the entire year making at home hair maintenance easier, it is recommended to infuse keratin every 3 to 5 months continuously depending on hair type and texture, to avoid hair returning to its unmanageable state.

 
q: WILL KERATIN PERMANENTLEY STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR?

Our keratin is not a permanent hair straightening treatment because it does not break the structure of the hair. However, it is possible to achieve permanent straightening by having multiple keratin treatments done back-to-back during a three-month period. You may ask about the Double-Dose Keratin option in store.

 
q: WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD I USE FOR KERATIN TREATMENT AFTER CARE?

We have created our own line of products specifically for our keratin treatments. Purchasing our line of Silk Touch System products or Ultimate Repair System products will prolong your keratin making at home maintenance simple. Our masks are keratin infused giving hair small doses of keratin every time applied. We can guarantee our products will maintain keratin treatment without damaging it however, other sulfate free products may be used but not recommended.

 
q: HOW LONG DOES A KERATIN SERVICE TAKE AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Most keratin services take approximately two hours but is subjective to change regarding hair texture, length, and thickness. At the end of each keratin service, the stylist will recommend the proper at home hair maintenance for client specifically. We expect clients to follow proper at home hair maintenance instructions for individualized keratin services. If instructions are properly followed, keratin should last 3 to 6 months.

 

Color Questions

 
q: IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE COLOR AND KERATIN DONE ON THE SAME DAY?

Under most circumstances it is possible to have both color and keratin done during same service and on most occasions, a keratin treatment may even be recommended right after your color. However, it all depends on client’s current hair color, type, and texture. It is recommended to have a consultation for these types of services together.

 
q: HOW SOON MAY I COLOR MY HAIR AFTER KERATIN TREATMENT?

It is recommended to wait at least two weeks to dye your hair after receiving a keratin treatment however, there are many factors regarding the client’s current hair structure and color. Your professional will be able to answer this question exclusively during consultation, answer may vary depending on hair type.

 
q: CAN I CUT AND COLOR MY HAIR AT THE SAME DAY?

Yes. We suggest that you schedule your color appointment with your hair cut to ensure a reserved appointment.

 
q: SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR BEFORE COLORING IT?

It’s not necessary to wash your hair before coloring it.

 
q: HOW LONG DOES A COLOR JOB LAST?

A Single-Color Process or a root touch up should last approximately 4-6 weeks. Highlights last approximately 6-12 weeks. Color and Highlights depend on the individual client’s hair.

 
q: WHAT COLOR LINE DO WE USE?

In our salons we only use the top-of-the-line color brand: our exclusive G&C Color Line.
